We suggest you enter from the eastern shore
and
go to the southeastern corner and dive approximately
a 270 degree course heading (basically east to west)
along a small wall. Stay with a few feet of the wall and
adjust your depth based on the thermocline and visibility.
While traveling along westward, look up for baby fish and
continue until you find the boat. After playing around the
boat proceed due west and notice the change in bottom
contour, turning from wall to grassy flats. You will eventually
come close to the Ford Escort (white) in the grassy flats
and more playtime. (At this point many divers may be half
way through a tank and may wish to start their return) if air
allows continue to the west wall and turn north looking for
small red brick in this area and large fish population especially
on a night dive. Coming to the eastward turn, you will run into
two more cars, one on top of the other. These cars are very
close to the surface and they would be hard to miss. Traveling
back toward the eastern shore you will run directly into our
underwater forest (north side). Meandering slowly through the
submerged trees is a real change from normal diving and should
be done (first time) at mid day for maximum light, then trying it
at night for an extremely interesting and challenging dive. Arriving
back at the dock, you will have finished a tour of the Brickyard
Quarry, take a break, have some refreshments and try it again.
We don’t recommend just swimming out in the middle, because
the bottom has silted in through the years and it has produced
a black background; the water is just as clear, but it won’t look
like it to most people. So enjoy you dive and if you need a tour
just let us know. ENJOY!
